Dental Radiology – 2D and 3D
Dental Radiology – X-ray Department – within Gikic Polyclinic, located at Ozaljska Street 128 in Zagreb, has been operating since 1989. The X-ray department was established 10 years after the founding of the clinic. The proximity of public transportation, a tradition of quality service, regular maintenance, and the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment guarantee our excellent service that has been maintained to this day.
Dental Radiology – Imaging Service for All Patients
In our polyclinic, there is no waiting or scheduling for imaging. You can walk in freely during working hours, and the imaging will be done immediately. The modern age demands fast information delivery, which is why we also send your panoramic or individual tooth images to your dentist by email upon request. The images are provided in digital format on a CD or USB stick.
Our radiology department is equipped with:
- FOCUS by Instrumentarium (Finland) for intraoral RVG (RadioVisioGraphy) imaging of a single tooth
- OP-300 device for 2D imaging by Instrumentarium (panoramic/orthopantomogram)
- OP-300 device for 3D imaging by Instrumentarium (CBCT – Cone Beam Computed Tomography)
Dental Radiology –
All Types of X-ray Imaging
Orthopantomogram or orthopan is a panoramic two-dimensional image of the teeth in both jaws and surrounding anatomical structures (maxillary sinuses in the upper jaw, the mandibular nerve in the lower jaw, and the height but not the volume of the bone).
CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) is a three-dimensional image that shows all the details (including bone volume which is the most important factor for oral surgery and implant placement, diagnostic purposes for initial examinations, inflammatory conditions, root canal treatments, etc.)
Today, three-dimensional imaging is the standard because we want to dispel any and all doubt. It provides us with everything we need for quality diagnosis and treatment planning.
We can perform 3D imaging for:
- one jaw segment – small field
- both jaws – medium field
- upper jaw and zygomatic arch – large field.
Advantages of Digital Imaging:
- Higher quality images with more details
- Simplified and fast image acquisition
- Software image adjustment and digital treatment planning
- Easier archiving and storage on CD or USB stick
- Sending X-ray data digitally (via email or Wetransfer).
Dental Radiology –
ORTHOPANTHOMOGRAPH OP 300 Maxio
We keep up with the times by constantly updating our X-ray department with state-of-the-art equipment. The latest generation of device is the ORTHOPANTHOMOGRAPH OP 300, Maxio. We capture 2D panoramic X-ray images, a field of 5×5 cm for endodontics and individual implants, 6×8 cm for a single jaw, 8×8 cm for both jaws, and 13×15 cm for the upper jaw and zygomatic arch, which is also the largest field frequently used here but rarely in standard practice. It produces high-quality sharp images.
Software tools assist us in image creation, communication, and treatment planning. The standard DICOM format is used.
LDT (Low Dose Technology) enables scanning/imaging using a cone beam with up to 5 times less radiation compared to standard 2D orthopan devices from other manufacturers. The device is so sophisticated and advanced that it determines the minimum radiation dose for the scanned area on its own.
The imaging software can be connected to well-known diagnostic software for:
The imaging process is fast, safe, high-quality, and precise because it is characterized by:
- Minimal radiation doses (LDT)
- Easy patient positioning
- Rapid image acquisition and storage
- Precision and sharpness of the images.
High-quality, professional, extremely fast, precise, and safe imaging for our internal and external patients without the need for appointments for over 30 years at the same address, Ozaljska 128 in Zagreb.
Many residents of Zagreb know us specifically for our X-ray department because we were among the first in the city to start capturing targeted small X-ray images, followed by analogue orthopan. Today, we have the most advanced digital technology and produce the highest-quality images.
