What are dental implants?
Dental implants are titanium biocompatible screws that replace a missing tooth root and serve as a base, or support, for prosthetics (crowns and bridges). They are implanted into the bone, along with the abutment, and provide a complete tooth replacement. They can replace one, several or all teeth in a jaw.
At Gikic Polyclinic, we use Straumann group dental implants that cover all indications and have a unique portfolio of different materials and surfaces, including revolutionary technologies such as Roxolid i SLActive.
We also use ceramic implants from the Neodent brand that meet the high aesthetic expectations of patients. Ceramic implants are metal-free solutions recommended for implantation in the aesthetic zone of the smile.
How are dental implants placed?
Before the surgical procedure, it is necessary to perform X-ray diagnostics – panoramic X-ray. Nowadays, we use CBCT diagnostics for bone volume and three-dimensional information that cannot be seen on a panoramic X-ray. The procedure is planned using digital software called coDiagnostiX, where we assess bone density and volume to choose the most suitable implant for that position. Each procedure is predictable and meticulously planned in phases because we have a vision of the therapy outcome.
We increasingly use ultrasound-guided implantation with Piezosurgery, a device specifically designed for bone tissue manipulation and implant placement preparation.
Dental implants are placed using a device called a Physiodispenser. It is a fast and painless procedure performed under local anesthesia, and the placement of a single implant takes 10 minutes.
