What is
Smile Design?
Smile design is a tool that helps us create the desired result of a future smile. It simulates the size, shape, and teeth color, allowing us to determine in advance which shape and size of the teeth perfectly fit your face. Digital Smile Design is an integral part of the dental examination at Gikic Polyclinic.
Prosthodontics is a branch of dentistry that involves the restoration and protection of damaged teeth (crowns), replacement of missing teeth (bridges) and enhancement of smile aesthetics (veneers).
How is
Smile Designperformed?
The first step is taking a digital impression, which involves scanning the teeth and bite with a 3Shape TRIOS 5 digital scanner.
The second step is designing the new smile using digital software such as exocad and creating a printed 3D model of the new teeth.
The third step is the mock-up, a direct simulation of the new teeth on the patient’s existing teeth. The mock-up is a prototype, a trial smile known as a test smile.
We use Smile Design for the creation of extensive and aesthetically demanding prosthetic works. It allows for precise treatment planning and ensures that the final result meets the patient’s expectations. With digital smile design, you can see exactly how your new smile will look before we start the treatment.
DSD is often used in aesthetic dentistry for the following treatments:
- Veneers – ceramic covers
- Orthodontics – clear aligner
- Metal-free dental restorations – individual dental crowns and bridges:
- CAD-CAM,
- EMAX,
- Zirconia – ZrO2,
- Glass ceramic,
- Empress ceramic.
Advantages of Digital Smile Design:
- Visualisation of the future smile before the actual treatment – the best way to experience and feel your smile is to see it in advance.
- Every phase is precisely planned, ensuring accurately executed procedures.
- Self-confidence and self-satisfaction.
- Natural and beautiful facial appearance.
- Improved dental health and function.
- Long-lasting solution.
- Natural smile aesthetics.
- Face and smile harmony – a smile designed based on the patient’s physiognomy.
